The Orioles pitcher will see team orthopedist John Wilckens on Friday morning to determine the cause of soreness in his right elbow, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Uehara is scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Nationals, but Wednesday’s decision to pull Class AAA Norfolk pitcher David Hernandez from his start after four perfect innings raised questions. Manager Dave Trembley lent those questions some credence Thursday.
“I think that’s probably very self-explanatory why (the decision to pull Hernandez) happened,” Trembley said.
Uehara threw six innings Tuesday, allowing just one run before asking out of the game.
